It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas...

Today we did it....we went into the crawl space and started the long process of getting the Christmas things out. It's always so much fun to look in each box and be surprised at what's inside. Sometimes I forget something new I received or bought the year before. Last year I bought this cute gingerbread man throw pillow at Costco . . . I'm so excited to have him on the couch again.

The girls are happy to have their nativity scene out. A friend of ours made it for them - an inn and a stable. We bought cheap loonie store figurines to go with it and they love playing with it. I can hear them playing now. In fact it seems Bethlehem is experiencing an earthquake! When Madeleine was two, her little Pooh Bear and Tigger figurines used to come worship the newborn King! She used to call Joseph "Jophes" and when we would teasingly call him that, she would become indignant and say, "NO, His name is Jophes!!"

Another friend of ours made us a family advent calendar. It's a cute stitched angel with 25 pockets. Every year I put a little card in each pocket describing something special we will do that day. Sometimes it's really simple like reading a Christmas book and sometimes it's more involved like going to the Christmas train.

I'm also hoping to do some fun stuff through the month of December in KidsChurch. I found a neat site for Advent crafts, stories etc...

Well, I need to get the kids in the tub and ready for bed. Today the girls got new boots. Chelsea got Disney light up ones and Maddie got Hello Kitty ones. I got a great bargain on them, so we're all happy.
