Last night after supper our doorbell rang frantically. When Mike got to the door, our neighbour was yelling that his son was having a seizure. I ran over and followed him upstairs. His wife was on the phone with 911 trying to undress her toddler who was laying limp on their bed. I guessed right away it was a febrile seizure as he was blazing hot. We cooled him with cool cloths and put him on his side. He was kind of moaning and whimpering which I thought was a good sign. His colour was also pretty good. Apparently during the seizure he went blue. That must have been so scary for them. It wasn't long before the firemen got there and took over. They gave him some oxygen and tested his vitals. The one firemen was very reassuring, telling my neighbours his son had the same kind of seizures. Then the paramedics came and asked all kinds of questions. They decided to take him to the hospital. When they tried to strap him into the stretcher, he started to really cry and ask for Mommy, so my neighbour hopped on and held him on her lap. I scrambled around to find her purse, shoes, keys and called her sister for her.
It's awful to see a child sick. Poor little guy...I hope they didn't have a long wait at the hospital. I'll give them a call this morning to see how they all are.
