These days our bed is the preferred sleeping venue for everyone in the house. The children are tucked snugly in their cute little beds at bedtime, but somehow in the wee hours of the morning both of them manage to wedge their way into ours. It's like a giant puzzle some nights. When I wake up and try to shift position, I realize I have one child tucked firmly against my spine and another pressed up against my stomach, arms and legs hanging off the side of the bed. Not to mention, that somehow the dog, who obediently went to bed on her pillow beside us, has now positioned herself into the "v" of my bent legs.
When I asked my girls why it's necessary for them to come into our room they tell me they are scared in their rooms. How they can be scared in lavender butterly adorned and sky blue carousel horse rooms is beyond me. It's not like I went with the goth or dungeons and dragons decorating themes. The other day when I overheard them talking they were describing to each other the scary parts of their rooms. Madeleine...."You know the space behind my bed....sometimes dad put the pillow there and I think it's a monster" Chelsea....."My butterfly shelves look like bats at night"
Most nights it's OK. It feels very cozy to be cuddled up with my girls. I know they won't be wanting to wedge in forever. I think, though, that we should have invested in a king size bed!
