"He is not a tame lion," says Mr. Tumnus. "But he is good" replies Lucy.
Yesterday we went to see the Chronicles Of Narnia. It really did meet all my expectations. It is one of those movies that has to be seen on the big screen.
We weren't sure whether to take the girls. We had heard there were some frightening scenes. Mike had read the books to Maddie through the year so she realy was anxious to see the film. Chelsea had heard bits and pieces. We couldn't all go and leave her behind. So in the end, we all went.
Maddie had to hide her head in my lap a few times, mostly because she knew what was coming next. Chelsea watched the whole thing wide eyed!
I just can't even describe how amazing it was to see this childhood book come to life in such a fantastic way. I must have had the books read to me when I was 6 or 7 because I remember when we went to England and Scotland (after grade 2) I asked my parents to look for Turkish Delight for me. When we finally found some, I was disappointed. I just couldn't imagine how Edmund found it so delicious!
At dinner last night, Chelsea said that when Aslan died she felt a drip from her eye. " But I wiped it away," she assured me! When I explained to her the parallel with Jesus dying and resurrecting, her response was "That's cool, Mom."
My sister wrote in her Christmas card that Jasmine (my niece) remembers me reading the Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe to her when I was visiting one summer. She said she could hardly wait for the next chapter each night. I had forgotten about that.
Some of my favourite parts in the movie/book.....
When Lucy first discovers the wardrobe....the way she pulls the sheet off
The first glimpse of Narnia....magical!
When Mr. Tumnus says, "I've been a bad faun"
When Mrs. Beaver proclaims that "Aslan is on the move"
The White Witch....what a great actress.....she looks truly cold and evil
Cair Paravel . . . just how I imagined it.
The battle scene was pretty incredibe too.
I think C.S. Lewis would approve. Apparently, he always hesitated about having it made into a movie because he didn't want it to look "corny" or fake. I'm sure he would be amazed at how well this represents his book.

Gee, now I really can't wait to see the movie, or read the books. I never read them as a kid, so I am excited to give Wade his new copies for Christmas so when he is done, I can read them! I find that I like to see the movie first, then read the books. That way I am not disapointed about parts that are missing, or what was changed... instead it is like getting some extra info that the movie left out! Merry Christmas!
