The Mysteries of the Internet and Other Things

For some unknown reason, the link to my blog broke. I don't recall doing anything different, and I didn't have a clue how to fix it. I also didn't have a single spare moment these past few weeks to look into it, so I let it go. Today I simply changed the internet address and it seems to work. Several people asked me about it in the past week...it's nice to be missed in any context!

It's been a whirlwind of activity around here. Between spending 10 hours a day at school, filling out endless forms, making lunches (my dreaded job) and dinner, and trying to spend some quality time with my family, there's just not time for much else. Last week I spent my day off doing housework and laundry. Today I've been way less productive. Somehow after doing a couple errands and taking the kids to McDonald's for lunch....a birthday treat for Chelsea, I've managed to fritter the hours away. This morning we did do the switch over from summer to fall in the kids' closets. Actually, it was as good as buying them new outfits. They had fun trying on last year's winter clothes to see what actually fit. Chelsea ended up with the lion's share of course, inheriting all Maddie's hand me downs. Maddie came out with a few things that still fit, but we had a good laugh at the long pants last year that are now floods. It felt kind of good to pack all those tank tops and shorts away for another year. We also ended up with a bag for good will and another for Anjeleigh.

My job is going so well. We have a lovely class....thank the Lord! They are really a pleasure to teach and spend the day with. I had forgotten how busy September is. I should just tell my friends that I'll see them in October next year! There's so much to do in order to get the routines going in the classroom.

The kids have started their piano lessons again. Maddie is excited to start basketball and Chelsea has started into her soccer. Soccer was a real dilemna. I'm not even sure we made the right decision. Mike really wants the girls to be in some kind of sport...so do I, but having never been involved in athletics as a kid, I didn't have the same passion. Chelsea really wanted to play soccer and it's such a great sport for kids. The Sunday games are a real pain. Unfortunately at her age, they are usually in the morning. Most of the time, she'll be able to make it to Sunday School, and sometimes Mike and her will have to duck out of church early. Anyhow, we're giving it a try for a year. If it doesn't work, we'll figure something else out. If she really loves it and it seems like a good fit, we'll try to find a Saturday night service or early Sunday service. We've talked to other people who have girls in soccer and they work it out with an early service usually. Most people seem to be able to fit it in. It's really not fair that girls always have to play on Sunday.

I can't believe it's almost 6. I told the girls we would go swimming but somehow I've got to worm myself out of that one. There's no way I want to go to a chlorine filled pool of screaming children on my day off. Maybe I can distract them with a good dessert....does that make me a bad mother? LOL!
