What a miserable week of weather. By Thursday, I was pretty tired of being soaked and cold. Who in their right mind pays for their kids to run around in the rain kicking a soccer ball while the parents freeze on the sidelines? We apparently did! The amazing thing is that it didn't bother the kids nearly as much. They seemed to have fun despite the weather and were keen to go each morning.
On Thursday one of the teachers I used to work with invited me over for lunch. Her girls are the same age, so we chatted while the kids played. The funny thing is that her daughter is in my class this year. Good thing we like each other!
Friday night, Grandma and Grandpa came over for a meal. The kids get to see them each morning, but we hardly ever get a visit in with our busy schedules. It was nice to sit and relax over a meal.
On Saturday we decided to wrap up spring break by going to Science World. As a teacher, I get two free passes a year, so I thought I should take advantage of one. We had a lot of fun exploring. We watched a movie about space exploration to the stars in the science theatre. Very boring for all of us except Maddie. Mike and Chelsea had a snooze while I periodically checked my watch. Maddie listened intently, wide-eyed through the whole film. Actually the only thing that struck me as fascinating in the film is the vastness and hugeness of space. It's hard to wrap your mind around it. Today in church when we sang about God setting the stars in place, I had a whole new image in my mind.
My favourite part was the chocolate exhibit....mainly because they were giving out samples. It was sponsored by Purdy's....even better.
After a full day at the "golf ball", I was exhausted. It was an early bedtime for all after a meal at Nana's, where my uncle and aunt from White Rock were visiting. Once again, it was nice to be with family.
Today we went to church and we are having our Care Group here tonight. It's the first time in a long time we've all been together due to a variety of factors! It will be nice to have everyone here, including our newest additions, Jamison and Jared, 6 week old twins!
So, it's back to routine tomorrow.... the lunch making, the laying out of clothes, the home reading, the piano practice, the swimming lessons. Maddie starts field hockey this week too. Thank goodness soccer is over! I'm looking forward to it in a way because I know these few months after spring break fly by. Then, it will be summer.....my favourite.
