I feel now like I'm truly on holidays. I love that every day is the weekend. This is the best part of my job! LOL! No, not really, but it is a perk. I've let all routine go including piano practice. I sense they need a complete break for a few weeks. Then I'll gradually add some routine in! They are reading and writing every day as they play and organize "shows" for us to watch so their little brains aren't completely going to mush. Little do they know, I have math practice in the works for them too!
On Tuesday the girls had a cousin sleepover with Anjeleigh. It was fun to have her here so they could play and have fun together. They really love each other which is such a blessing. I hope they always remain close. On Wednesday we headed out to pick up Colin, Jeanie and Caleigha and went out to Harrison to take in the Children's Art Festival. It was an exceptional day of crafts, music, a climbing wall and then a cool off time at the beach later in the afternoon. It was really HOT but we kept cool in the shade of the tents. It was great to be able to cool off in the lake after too. Harrison is a really great beach. I love the sand and the warm water. After that glacier water in the Kootenays, I'm all into warm lake water!!
Yesterday we had friends over for supper and enjoyed the coolness of the patio after the kids went to bed. I love sitting outside in the evening. There's nothing better than feeling the cool air, seeing the stars and catching a whiff of the honeysuckle growing in the corner of the yard. Have I mentioned how much I love summer?
Next week I'm teaching at VBS so today is all about getting ready for that. It should be fun and it will be good to have something for the kids to do everyday. Chelsea finished her swim lessons and once again, didn't pass. I hope she doesn't get discouraged. She is finally submerging her head (BIG STEP!) but doesn't trust that she can float or do glides on her own. I think this is the 5th or 6th time she's taken the first level in some form or the other since she was 3! In hindsight, I probably should have skipped the lessons and just taken her to public swims. Maddie has flown through the levels so I really need Chelsea to catch up so she can at least have fun in the pool when we go somewhere as a family. The instructor suggested I practise lots with her before signing her up again. Oh joy, I just love going to the pool and hearing "Hi, Mrs. D" from all the kids at my school! Maybe I'll drive to another community to take them swimming!!
Anyway, the fun continues. I can't wait until our Summerland holiday. I am hoping for great weather so we can hang out at the beach every day.
