This is one of my favourite holidays. It comes at a great time, just after the back to September routine. Boy, was our family ever ready for a break. The girls have been playing in their rooms non-stop or watching TV... just enjoying each other and the lack of routine. I also love the non-commercial aspect. There is no Santa Claus or Easter Bunny equivalent for Thanksgiving. It's simply about giving thanks and being together with family or friends. I also LOVE pumpkin. Yesterday I made pumpkin pancakes and pumpkin loaf. I still have some pumpkin left so I'm scheming up more pumpkin things to make and bake....yum! Not to mention those pumpkin lattes...boy, do I love those. The girls and I made some cute rice krispie turkeys last night.
Being thankful is easy in this season of my life. I have a great husband who is always giving and loves me in spite of my many faults! I have two healthy, intelligent, beautiful girls who make my cup overflow each and every day. I have a lovely, cozy home and more than I need in terms of material things. I have a job that is fulfilling even when it gets crazy and stressful! I live in a peaceful country where my children have never known the pain of hunger or the fear of war. Most of all, I have a Saviour who gave his life so that I can live abundantly and freely. As I participated in communion this morning, I was reminded of all that I have to be thankful for and who I have to thank for it all.....Thank you Lord.
