Mealtime Battles
Our eldest has always been good about eating. She likes most anything I cook and in general, eats well. She takes things seriously and listens when we tell her why certain foods are healthy. Our youngest, has her ups and downs in this area. Tonight was a down. Mike and I had decided we need to take a strong, united front on the whole dinner dilemna with her. She often picks away, or doesn't eat her dinner at all. Of course, a little while later, she's hungry and wants a "snack". I tend to give in, provided it's a fruit or a veggie snack. Today was the first day we played hard ball with her...no dinner, no snack..no, not even a healthy one. She was not impressed with our tactics. After a throwback to her 2 year old tantrums and some enforced time in the "time out" chair, she went to bed hungry. I offered her the supper that was still in the fridge, but she decided she'd rather go to bed. Not before she tried to talk me into yogurt, mind you. I'm sure her little tummy is growling, but maybe that will encourage her to eat her supper tomorrow night. On with the battle!

My youngest is the same!! I think it's a youngest child thing!
Good luck! Being a picky eater myself, I don't force the kids to eat stuff they don't like, but when they refuse to eat things I know they like or take (seriously!) an hour or an hour and a half to eat their supper, it drives me crazy! Oh, we have our mealtime melodramas too...
