The Virus Wins

So, after many weeks of winning the battle, I've finally succumbed to the "bug" going around my classroom. I hate being sick as a teacher. I always feel guilty taking a sick day. I was going to tough it out and just go to school heavily medicated tomorrow until Mike told me to give my head a shake. He reminded me that I have many, many sick days left because I hardly ever take them. So, I booked a TOC and emailed my principal. My next dilemna is that I hate leaving my classroom to someone else without having the day entireley laid out, everything photocopied with little yellow sticky notes explaining everything. I was going to run up tonight or first thing tomorrow to prep things. After talking to Mike and my aunt on the phone, I decided to let the TOC earn his/her keep. After all, they are professionals, fully trained and capable of photocopying and planning. The kids go to library in the morning anyhow, so he/she will have a full 45 minutes to get themselves organized. I think I'm just going to let it go...very unusual for me! LOL! I'm off to take some Advil Sinus, have a steaming hot bath and turn in.
