I can't believe it's Sunday evening again. Here I sit with my nose running and my eyes barely open. I'm either allergic to whatever is in the air or I'm coming down with a cold. It started yesterday when I was out in the garden, seemed to get better today and then started up with a vengeance when I went up to my teaching partner's house. Her block is all out in cherry blossoms...could it be? I doubt it...I've never had allergies before. It's probably just a virus.
My poor teaching partner is battling cancer again. She had sinus cancer in her 20s and has now been diagnosed with a squamous cell cancer in her throat. It's very treatable and she'll be fine, but to have to go through treatments again seems unfair. Anyhow, she's very upbeat and positive about it. She won't be back in the classroom this year anyhow, and maybe not next. It's not the greatest profession for her with all her sinus/throat troubles. She loves it, but maybe she can find something at the district level where she could utilize her amazing art abilities. Selfishly, I will really miss her. We have such a great working relationship. It's hard for me to think about sharing a class with anyone else. I can't think about it too much right now...it's too sad:(
Yesterday I had fun in the yard. I cut the grass and edged along the front yard. I weeded the beds and raked them up a bit. I can't wait to get planting and organizing. Unfortunately, some rodents took up residence in our shed this winter. Yuck. I was willing to help, but Mike said it wasn't "women's work"...bless him! He put on his gloves and scoured that shed from top to bottom, threw out a bunch, reorganized the shelves and disinfected it. I'm hoping whatever little critter(s) were in there feel unwelcome now.
I'm excited to be going to a math conference all day Wednesday. It will be a change of pace. It's nice to be the learner sometimes. We even get lunch which is such a treat for me! I'm going with another teacher at our school. Then we're heading off for a little Gulf Island holiday this weekend. I'm looking forward to some R&R with family...Colin and Jeanie are joining us. We are renting my teaching partner's cottage. I'm hoping to see some whales, but if not, a seal or two will do!
It's time to get the routine rolling again! I have such a love/hate relationship with Sunday night!!
