Hey, it's October. I can't believe September is history. It was a fun month, but a crazy one. My class is settling in nicely. They are learning to work quietly and to work faster! They may be the slowest working bunch I've ever had. I haven't had to pull out any of my fast finisher activities because there are none!! Anyway, they are learning about deadlines and about the consequences of not meeting deadlines (ie. staying in at recess!) They are a nice bunch overall and I'm really starting to enjoy them. I have 2 sweet boys with aspergers', 1 child who is a selective mute, 1 international student from Nigeria who doesn't yet understand North American structure and one girl from Korea who is beginning to learn English. I also have 5, yes 5 who will be pulled out daily for reading/writing help. It should be an interesting year.
I attended my 20 year high school reunion...yeah, I am that old! It was fun in a weird kind of way. Fortunately, I went with a circle of good friends. We made a vow to stick together and exit together if the evening was a "bust". We didn't need to as we found lots of people we hadn't seen in ages. It was good, although the 80s music was far too loud to talk over (that comment just confirms that I am getting old) and the food was just OK. It was at our high school which was a bit twilight zone-ish. Same hallways, same lockers, same people, but 20 years older!
Today is my day off and I'm really enjoying it. After a trip to Costco and Save On, I'm at home to begin my list of to dos. I probably won't get through it, but I'd like to at least make a dent in it. First order of business is to clean the van and the garage, so I'd better get at it. Happy October!

Too funny that you know Kit! Everyone knew him in high school.
