What a day of bad news. I heard from my Aunt who is visiting her sister and husband in the States. She's decided to stay longer because my uncle's health is deteriorating rapidly. He was diagnosed with cancer in the summer and although he was rallying a bit in October - he's getting weaker and sicker by the day. Then I heard my friend's father-in-law has only weeks to live - he has cancer as well.
My father in law is awaiting blood test results again. The doctor is trying to figure out why his platelet count is so low and his spleen/liver/bladder are slightly enlarged according to an ultrasound. My mother in law has to go back to her doctor as well after a bone density scan. Her blood pressure is high again also. We're praying that all this amounts to nothing more than medication or something simple to restore their health.
It's so scary to see loved ones age. In my heart of hearts, I expect them to be here forever, healthy and young...always available for advice and help. But the reality is not that. We are human and we are not here forever. This is our temporary home. I'm so thankful for a Savior who loves us and promises us peace and protection for whatever valley we may have to face, even if we're not ready to face them.

This is what I was thinking about tonight too, for a number of reasons similar to yours. I'm sorry to hear about your uncle. Wow, life is so short, hey? I'm grateful for heaven too, and a God who loves me so much. Thanks for the reminder. It is also good that we don't walk alone, hey? :) Have a good week, friend.
