As I was tucking my kindergartener in tonight, she asked me if we could change our last name. Why? I asked....we have a good solid last name. It turns out there are two Madeleines (with different spellings, mind you) in her k class, so the teacher refers to them by both first and last names.
What would we change it to? I inquired. "Well, maybe Beautiful or Royal," she replied. Wouldn't that be a great self esteem booster...."Madeleine Beautiful, do you know the answer?" "Madeleine Royal, would you take the attendance down to the office?"
What a last name to live up to!!! Imagine being the "Beautifuls" - the pressure you'd feel.
Or the "Royals" - always having to be on your best manners. No, I think we'll keep the safe, boring last name we have!

I love this...my little Lauren says, "Auntie Sue, I don't like being Lauren G." I wish I could just be Lauren." There are 2 other Laurens in her class...Lauren D. and Lauren W.
I told her that I was always Susan G. and I didn't like that either. I'm not sure of a way around this, but I did live through being called Susan G.!!
I had a good visit with Bonnie this morning. I'm going to be praying up a storm!!
