The Day After.....

Today was such a "twilight zone" kind of day at school. First of all, it's November 1st - the day after Halloween...no one should have to be at school that day! Then, my SEA was away so I had a sub. In a weird twist, Lucas was also away, so the sub had nothing really to do. I hate trying to keep people busy. She wasn't really a self starter. To her credit, she did help me clean up the paintbrushes after our art lesson. To make the sugar highs higher, it was an inside day at recess and lunch. After lunch, the power went out. All the kids had to go to the bathroom all of a sudden. Literally half the class had an "emergency". I finally figured it out. When the lights go out at our school, the bathrooms are dark - really dark because there are no windows. It's kind of a rush for them, I guess, to go to the bathroom in the dark. But despite all this, I realized I really like my kids at school. They are so sweet and fun. I almost wish I had more time with them -- almost, don't get me wrong -- I love my part timer status right now. I am so thankful to have a great job. I love teaching. Sometimes I wish I had more time to do Pro-D and really make my classroom my own, but for this chapter of my life, I can't and I'm content with that. One day, I'll work full time again and I'll enjoy being "the" teacher.

I love the way you have put your family first! And I'm so glad you are enjoying your class this year. My sister-in-law said it was kind of eerie in her class - the kids had hit the sugar drop and were so tired and cooperative that she did 3 days worth of science lessons in one. LOL It is great that you love teaching so much and can do it part-time! See you tomorrow for our sewing date. :)
