Family Letter

Today I started a family blog. Back in the 70s our family had a cool tradition called the "The Family Letter" My grandparents would start it, mail it to a family member and every family would add their letter and mail it on. It was always such a treat to receive the bulky envelope full of news from our family members. As you can imagine, the family letter died out due to a lack of time on everyone's part. It struck me today that we could have an online family blog. Sure, it's not quite the same as receiving a letter in the mail, but it would really serve the same purpose. I'm excited about it's debut. Three family members have already posted saying it's a great idea and my computer saavy cousin is going to link up his family photo gallery to it. I'm hoping it will help to keep our spread out family in touch!

Another idea to try might be www.myfamily.com.

Our family has a site there, and posts news, and pictures, and even some fun polls and family history and recipes and stuff like that. It is super easy to work with and is free for their basic level of memory. I think my cousin pays a bit every year for some enhanced memory for us.

Anyway, a family blog is very cool also. Great idea - I'll be interested to hear how you guys do with it! I love that family letter thing too - I guess now we have other much faster ways of staying in touch. :)
