Whirlwind Weekend

What a weekend we've had! On Friday night, I went to my staff dinner. I decided to go solo this year, partly because of the cost and partly because a lot of other teachers were doing the same. We had it at this little hole in the wall organic restaurant. It was kind of a funky little place. One of our staff members co- owns it. Anyway, the salmon buffet was awesome! It was fun to chat with some of my co workers. On Saturday, we went over to our neighbour's house to make candy houses. We used milk cartons and graham wafers. It was a lot of fun. The girls had a great time and each came away with a pretty cool little house. Madeleine said, "I'd love to live in a little cottage like that." We left their place and went to some other friends' house for a little Christmas get together. It was a nice time to just relax, laugh and have some good converstion. We hit the ground running Sunday morning. We rushed off to church. The girls did their little performance - I did KidsChurch. We rushed home, had a quick lunch and took off for the orpheum. We saw a great Christmas show called "A Flicker of Light." It was about 3 kids trying to figure out the meaning of Christmas. An old homeless man with a lantern tells them the history of Hannukah, Christmas and other traditions. It was really cool because Christianity got a fair bit of "air time" The symphony as accompaniment was wonderful. They started with O Come All Ye Faithful and ended with Joy to the World. The girls enjoyed it and we did too. Of all the Kids Concerts we've been to, that was one of the best.

Now we're home catching up on laundry and trying to get organized for the week ahead. I always aspire to have some time Sunday night to relax, maybe paint my nails, have a bath....that kind of stuff....ahh, but it never happens. I'm off to make snacks, get backpacks packed and yes, fold some more laundry!
