Yesterday we visited the gorillas at the Woodland Park Zoo. Well, we went to see the whole zoo, but of course, the gorillas were the highlight for me. My family left me at the gorilla exhibit and saw some other primates. I had a good time just watching.
The gorilla above was playing with a stick the whole time. Sometimes he would stick it in his mouth like a toothpick. It was like a security blanket. He wouldn't let go of it and even cuddled with it while he rested.
They were such fun to watch. Their leathery hands are so human like and their eyes show such emotion and understanding.
This gorilla was the epitome of relaxation. The whole time she just hung out, occasionally rolling over and lazily looking out at us.
An artist had created these beautiful sculptures all over the park depicting the different animals. Mike took a picture of me with this silverback.
The elephant talk was another highlight. The elephants put on a real show, swimming and rolling about in their pond. After they were wet they would throw dirt all over themselves with their trunks. God created such diversity in the animal kingdom. It's truly amazing.

You lucky girl!! I love Woodland Park Zoo! I haven't been there is 2 years.... ah! The gorilla's are my favorite there too. Thanks for sharing those pictures. Reminds me that we need to go back there again.
Mike and I were there before we were married, so it had been 10 plus years. It's a very cool zoo. It's a long drive down, especially because we got turned around on the way home and ended up on a road into Seattle that we couldn't exit off!!! Oh well, all part of the adventure.
