I think I'm coming to accept the fact that noise just comes with the territory of young children. I don't really like a lot of noise. Maybe I have some kind of sensory integration disorder or something but a lot of noise really bugs me. That's why I stay away from rock concerts and other ear drum piercing activities.
I'm always telling my kids to "SHHHH!". I dont' know why they treat me as though I'm already aged and deaf. I can hear you, I tell them. You don't have to shout. I've had their hearing tested. They aced the test and so there appears to be no reason for the elevated voices. Except for the fact that they're 6 and 5.
It's not so bad all the time....only when I'm on the phone or when one of them feels the need to drive the other mad. Chelsea is a little sensitive to noise too and Maddie knows it. This morning as we were cuddling in bed Maddie decided it would be fun to clap her hands really loudly. Chelsea covered her ears and said, "Maddddiiieeee.....that hurts my ears." Oh Maddie said nonchalantly, it's just a sonic boom.
It's so quiet when they're at school. Actually....it's eerily quiet. It feels great for the first hour or so and then I begin to feel like I'm ready for some more childlike noise.

Graeme doesn't like noise either... it's actually kind of annoying. He's always shushing me and the kids! I think kids are noisey. And I think shushing them all the time is actually hard on them. But even I wish that sometimes they would just be quiet. LOL.
I think we'll miss that noise one day when they're all grown up!!
I'm not sure if Graeme will miss the noise when his grow up :)
