I'm in the process of writing my report cards. I'm so thankful my partner and I share them. It's much more manageable to write 11! Report card jargon always cracks me up. I can't say, "Your child is self centred and immature." I can't describe children as weird, dumb, annoying or any such thing. Nobody wants to read that even if it is true!
So we teachers have a code. It's all embedded in the jargon if you care to read between the lines.
Jack is beginning to.....means he hardly ever does whatever is being described
Jane is enthusiastic about learning......means she is loud and probably hyperactive
Joe is a friendly student... can't think of many other postive things to write...probably not the brightest kid on the block!
We are encouraging Sue to......means whatever it is, it's driving the teacher nuts.
tends to lead in group situations.....just plain bossy
enjoys socializing with classmates.......just won't shut up
Anyhow, it's all tongue in cheek.....just a little humour to lighten the report card blues.

Too funny Heather! I had a meeting with Hailee's teacher the other day... funny he was saying how enthusiastic she is in class, and how she likes to socialize, yet he is encouraging her to try to focus more on her work habits, rather than socializing...
Now I know what he meant... wow, she sounds just like me!
LOL
See you wednesday!
I always suspected... you sneaky teachers! No worries, we all do that.
You have to write more of these!! They are hilarious!
