The theme of our Tenebrae service this year was not only light, but stones. Stones that represent the sin we tend to carry around as a burden. I thought it was a powerful symbol of sin. Stones are heavy and awkward and get in the way of new growth. This symbol struck me in a powerful way this year because in our landscaping, Mike dug out numerous big rocks from our back yard. Funny, we couldn't see them buried in our yard, but they certainly had an effect on the lawn growth and health. I'm now using them in a more beneficial way as a border for my garden beds. After the service Friday, I was imagining the sin in my life as stones. I am guilty of carrying my stones around with me from time to time. I realized Friday it was time to get rid of them. I envisioned myself giving them to Jesus. Jesus took them one by one from me and threw them into the ocean where I couldn't retrieve them and couldn't see them.
I am really thankful for the way God spoke to me on Good Friday. I am thankful this Easter Day that Jesus is alive and willing, not only to carry my stones, but to toss them out to sea.

What a beautiful image Heather... I love that, Jesus throwing our stones out to sea. Thank you for sharing that picture!
