On Stage

Maddie has been taking a drama class this spring. She's thoroughly enjoying the experience. Today her teacher told me she should continue because she is good at it. I was quite surprised and even wondered whether she had the wrong mom. I mean, I know Maddie is a great little actor....but I thought she might be shy in a setting outside our living room. I was pleasantly surprised to hear she's doing well.

When I asked Maddie on the way home about what she'd like to do next, she stated her criteria for the next drama class. "Mom, I want it to be on stage and I want to act in front of people I don't know." She explained to me that this drama class was OK, but what she really wants to do is be on stage in a big production! Good Lord, where do these genes come from? I certainly don't enjoy the spotlight and I think acting is Mike's worst nightmare!

I hope her confidence lasts until Middle School when she can be "on stage" if she chooses to!
