My oldest has been on this Africa kick ever since we hosted Maria and Stella. I've answered just about every question she can conjure up about the continent and its peoples. She's even changed her career path to include "African Children's Choir Teacher". Today she asked me why African people all have dark skin, dark hair and brown eyes....."because mom, in Canada we all have different coloured skin and hair." So, I explained the fact that we are really all immigrants to Canada to which she objected, stating she was born here. So we went back a couple generations in the family tree to prove my point.
About an hour after our conversation, in the McDonald's parking lot, we see a family speaking a different language....I'm guessing Persian. Maddie pipes up....."Mom, why do people from different countries come to Canada....I don't have a problem with it....I just want to know."
