Everyone is asking me how I'm liking working 4 days. I don't know how to answer. My feelings are so mixed. I love what I do. When I'm in the classroom, I feel like I'm using my gifts and being used. I love that. Our class this year is so great. The kids are all respectful and interested in learning...it's quite a dream compared to last year.
I think my working life would be perfect if I could add 8 hours to my evening to be with my family. That's the part I hate. By the time dinner is cleaned up, we rush to do piano and home reading and then it's off to bed. I really miss those couple hours after school that we used to have. I also hate the fact that in the evening when I'm really tired, I have to get everything organized for the next day....lunches made and backpacks packed.
I was hoping to have some time this last weekend to do some organization around meals and family life in general, but I ended up sick in bed. I hate feeling disorganized and because I didn't do any meal planning this week, we ended up with pizza in front of the TV tonight. That makes me feel really pathetic as a mother. The kids thought it was great, mind you.
I think things will fall into place more as the year progresses and I get better at managing our time. Right now I feel as if I'm always a step behind.
I like my Fridays a lot. I like getting the house in order and havind some time to myself. I like taking the kids out to lunch if I want to. I think I would be lost without one day off.
It's 9 pm now. The kids are sleeping. Once I get lunches made and things ready for the morning, I'm off to bed too. Maybe a little Larry King or Anderson Cooper, but likely I'll fall asleep to the drone of their voices.

Hang in there Heather, things will fall back into place soon! I found this great website called www.savingdinner.com and it is awesome. They have full meal plans for a whole week, plus grocery lists for everything you would need to cook them. I cheat and use the sample menu's, but you can subscribe and they email you new ones weekly if you want! Hope you are feeling better soon!!
