My oldest has always been a "lawyer" around our house. She can argue her way out of most anything if we allow it. Usually I have to end the discussion rather abruptly so I don't get caught up in it. Her favourite line is "Wait....I want to tell you something".
Yesterday, I heard her and Chelsea trying to decide something. They decided to resort to "rock, paper, scissors". Chelsea won the round. Instead of graciously accepting her defeat (we have to work on that skill), Maddie says, "Wait, that game didn't count. We forgot to set the criteria." Set the criteria??? For rock, paper, scissors? When I asked her what she meant, she explained that you have to set the criteria before any game. I told her I thought everyone knew what the criteria was for that age old game. No, she explained, we could say that whoever loses actually wins.
Maybe she has a future in political science.....sounds like "spin" to me.
