This happens to be the last weekend for me to finish my report cards and I viewed not 1, not 2 but 3 movies! My reports are 90 % done and boy do I ever want to stretch that last bit out, or so it appears.
On Friday night we rented Babel. I saw the clips when I watched the Academy Awards last night and it looked fascinating to me. It was. It is a strange movie in many ways, but it is also cleverly woven together. I liked it. It touched on many, many issues and points out our connectedness as humans....how our actions have real consequences. I'd recommend it but you'd have to be in the mood for that sort of thing, I think.
With friends on Saturday we watched "Click". Too much profanity and potty humour for my liking, but it had some funny parts. It also has a very clear message about living life as it comes and not trying to "fast forward" over it. I think we all do that, whether it's living for the weekend or living for our next milestone in life.
And today.....well I had to go for a hat trick, so when our Care Group was suddenly canceled due to illness I said to the girls...."Wanna use your free movie passes?" I need to top this weekend off with a trip to the theatre! We saw "Bridge to Terabithia". I loved it. The movie was so well done and we all cried when....well, I won't spoil it if you haven't read the book. It's a very cool story about the power of the imagination and the innocence of childhood.
So, tonight I am finally finishing off those report cards....no more procrastinating....there's no time for another movie.
Oh, another sign that it's report card time - our house is remarkably clean. Even housework looks great compared to writing those dreaded evaluations.

Sorry about last night, I felt bad about cancelling at the last minute like that! Migraines are no fun... Sounds like you had some fun anyways though! "Bridge to Terabithia" was one of my favorite books we read in class as a kid. I can't remember what grade... but I remember loving the story!!! I can't wait to see the movie! I was really excited to see the previews on tv a few weeks ago. I also really want to see Pan's Labrynth... that looks really interesting, even if it is a foreign film! Anyways, sorry again, but thanks for understanding!
Heather, I can so relate! I remember in college, if I had a paper to write or an exam to study for, it was definitely movie time with my friends. Or even cleaning... I laughed when I read that. Sounds like a great weekend, and the report cards ended up getting done in the end, as did those papers and exams!
