I had promised the girls that we would have an adventure on the next Pro-D day. Since Friday is my day off, it's a day we can spend together. We've always wanted to take the West Coast Express (commuter train) downtown but it doesn't run on the weekends. Friday seemed the perfect opportunity. Once you pay for your return ticket you can use it for any transit all day. Mike droppped us off at the train station and we boarded with all the commuters! What a great way to get downtown. It took us 30 minutes and the scenery was beautiful. The train goes along the shore to Waterfront Station. We even saw a bald eagle circle above the trees. Once we got to Waterfront, we hopped on the SeaBus and went over to Lonsdale Quay for breakfast. We decided on McDonalds since the Crepe place wasn't open yet. After looking around a bit, we headed back downtown on the SeaBus and hopped on the Skytrain to Granville. We poked around Pacific Centre and each bought a pair of shoes. Maddie and Chelsea got some cute "keds". I bought a pair of Havaiana flip flops...ridiculous price for flip flops but they are the best.
We had lunch on Robson and then hopped on the bus to Stanley Park. We took advantage of our annual pass and spent two hours at the aquarium. It was not busy at all, to my surprise. We saw way more in two hours than we usually do on a full day. Our favourite was watching the dolphin show from the underwater viewing.
We caught the bus back to Waterfront station and then for the final leg of our journey, caught the train back home.
It was a great day and I LOVED not driving into Vancouver. I think we'll do that a few times this summer. Oh yeah, and with Earth Day on Monday, we were just doing our part!!
