Betta 911
This afternoon, in an attempt to get some long overdue things done, Mike was helping the girls clean their betta tanks. They are really cool tanks that actually hang on their bedroom wall. After Maddie's fish was back in its newly cleaned bowl, she insisted she could hang it back herself. The next thing I heard was a crash, a scream and "Daaaaaadddd!!!" Yes, she missed the hook and the fish was now on the floor, along with a lot of water. Mike, being the most patient and unflappable person on earth, saunters into her room to remedy the situation. I am staying right in the kitchen because flopping fish are right next to flapping birds on my "phobia" list. Maddie was sobbing uncontrollably and telling Dad to "please hurry...Indigal is dying." I did hand the net to Mike after he tried to pick up the poor betta in his hands unsuccesfully. Anyhow, after a lot of panic and crying on Maddie's part, "Indigal" (Maddie's name for it, which is a cross between the colour indigo and the fact that her fish is female...gal) is now back in her bowl, seemingly unharmed. Hopefully the traumatic effects are short lived...both for Indigal and for Maddie.
