Why does an amazing weekend always seem to be topped off by a crazy Monday? My weekend started Friday when my sister in law, my friend and I went to pick up my friend Bonnie from her conference in Richmond to go to the Beth Moore conference. We hadn't seen Bonnie in a year so it was wonderful to reconnect! Even though the traffic was gridlocked and it took us 3 hours to go from my house to Richmond and then to the coliseum.....craziness!
I must admit, I wasn't in any frame of mind to attend Beth Moore. My spiritual walk has been pretty dismal lately. I won't get into it all, but suffice it to say that I didn't feel I could handle what I knew would be pretty intense Bible teaching. I'm pretty sure God wanted me to be there. Even though my attitude was a little prickly Friday night, by Saturday I was ready to listen. I'm not a huge "Beth" fan...I guess I find her style a little over the top, but God really spoke to me through her. I would love to do one of her studies now. It's too bad I work on Thursdays when the women have their study. For now, maybe I'll just do one online. I wish I had some down time now to just process it all, but life is moving full speed ahead so I guess I'll have to think about it all later!
After the conference, Bonnie, Shar and I had a full day/evening of chatting at various locations! We had a wonderful lunch, a stop for some Starbucks and a great dinner out. I was so blessed to hang out with them....amazing women, both of them.
Sunday was full of church, soccer and finishing report cards.
This morning, my principal came in with a sheepish look on his face. I knew it!! A new student was on her way. After scrambling to get a desk and things ready for her, I find out she is coming from French Immesion and basically can't read or write. Aarrghhh! How does a kid get to March in grade 2 without some intervention??? The poor thing is tiny...she looks to be about 4 or 5. She really is going to be lost for a while. I could tell today that she was already overwhelmed looking at what my grade 2s can do. They are all really bright, capable kids. The whole day I felt behind and then we had a huge, long staff meeting. I came home, quickly grilled some fish, potatoes and salad for supper and whisked the kids off with Mike to piano. Now I have a pile of marking to do. Sitting here blogging isn't getting the dishes done, so I'd better get at it.
Spring break is almost here....it can't come soon enough today. Now, if only we were heading off to a tropical destination.....oh well, it's nice to dream, especially on a crazy Monday.

I'm praying for your new student, Heather, I hope she is able to adapt smoothly, I'm sure with such a great teacher and lots of bright kids around to encourage her, she'll find her niche soon enough! Must be hard making that big switch from french immersion to english, I can't imagine!
Sounds like you all had a great time at Beth Moore... I thought about going, but you know... I can empathize with how you felt... I'm a bit disconnected in that department as well, it's been one thing after another and I'm fighting to keep from slipping away. I didn't know you could do those studies on line though... might be something I'd like to look into!
Anyways, now I'm rambling, hope all is well! (OH, and to answer your question... Kilmer... this isn't on my blog so it's ok! :)
Wow I can't believe I even made it in the title. :) And with Beth yet, how funny. I had such a great time with you Heather, thanks so much for spending the whole day with me!
I had a hard time getting back into the routines of life after I got back too, even just today I still felt I was catching up!
I kept thinking I should ask you how I could pray for you a number of times throughout the weekend, but it just didn't seem like the right moment. I'm glad you shared some of your heart here, my friend.
Much love to you!!
