Spring Break!

Yeah! Spring break is finally here! I'm really looking forward to a week and a half off. I wasn't sure if I liked Easter being hooked up with spring break, but it will make for a longer feeling holiday. Then, when we go back to school, there will only be April, May and June!

We came upon a great sale and bought leather couches for our family room. It wasn't really in the plans - we thought we'd look in the summer and buy in the fall, but we couldn't pass up the offer and there was only one left in the brown colour we liked. They are in the warehouse now, so we'll probably get them delivered next week.

We don't have big plans for spring break. The girls and I might head down to the States to shop one day. Maddie has a few ski lessons, so we'll be spending a few afternoons on the hill. Other than that, I'm going to cook up a bunch of freezer meals for the remaining part of the school year. I find cooking nutritious dinners such a challenge when I'm working. I was doing really well, but the last couple weeks have been dismal in that department. Sandi Richard and her cookbooks usually come to the rescue if I'm organized enough to plan, but I figure if I have some things in the freezer, it will make life smoother.

Speaking of smooth, I've been making smoothies for breakfast lately....thanks to the inspiration of my "Beth Moore buddies"! The girls really love them and it gets one more serving of fruit into them easily! I'm using the frozen berries from Costco with a little yogurt and milk....yum!

Anyhow, it's time for my weekly Friday cleaning, laundry and errands, so I need to get moving.

Here's a quote from the breakfast table yesterday:

Chelsea: Ummmm...Maddie, I don't want to sound mean or anything, but that shirt doesn't really go with your hoodie.

Maddie: Chelsea....I'm just going to school...it's not the royal ball.

LOL! Won't the teen years be fun around here???

YAY Spring Break for you, I hope you have a great relaxing time.

I just bought those Costco berries too, hilarious. I still haven't tried the smoothies yet though - I'm too disorganized in the mornings so far but I have high hopes for myself. LOL

That breakfast conversation was hilarious, I love it.

And, have you seen The Big Cook? It is a book written by girls here in MHat actually and is all about frozen meals and how to shop and organize for them - it is excellent and lots of the meals sound really good. I've thought about trying it too. I think they have a website if you want to google them.

Anyway, have a great break, talk to you soon! b
