Spring Break didn't start off as well as I had hoped. I spent much of the weekend in bed with strep throat. Fortunately, I got antibiotics on Saturday so by Monday I was already feeling way better. We had a low key Monday morning. In the afternoon, the girls and I went to see a local theatre production of High School Musical. It was fun to see and of course, a big draw for the girls. One of my former students was in it. It was kind of a rainy evening so we rented Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium to watch after supper. It was a fun movie. We all really enjoyed it. It kind of reminded me of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, except Dustin Hoffman played a much more loveable character.
Yesterday we headed down to the States for a little shopping. The girls got a few little things each. I didn't find any spring coats I liked. Then we went to the Bible bookstore down there because I wanted to buy them a Bible cover for Easter. I always try to find an age appropriate devotional, Bible, DVD or something for their Easter baskets. I've done that since they were babies. I found them each a cool Bible cover. Then I found the greatest fictional novel series for girls called "Sisters in Time". It's about girls in history. Most of it is American history, but since Maddie is so intrigued with the slaves/freedom topic, I found two that she'll love. Then I found Chelsea a devotional for girls about Women in the Bible. It looks really well done. I distracted them with looking for an Odyssey CD while I secretly purchased my finds. I'm excited to make up their Easter baskets this year.
Today Maddie's ski lessons start. She is nervous and excited about learning to ski, but I think she'll get onto it pretty quickly. I'm not sure what Chelsea and I will do while she's in her lesson for 3 hours, but we'll figure it out. Chelsea is still sure she doesn't want to learn this year. Hopefully after watching Maddie, she'll change her mind and go nest year.
