June is here. It's here in full force with all the busyness that accompanies it. The weather feels more like February, but I have to keep reminding myself that it is June. With a mere three weeks of school left, it's a marathon to the end. There are report cards to do, year end cleaning and organizing to finish, planning for next year and fitting in all those fun activities. I've gone and planned a whole day of old fashioned fun in my classroom complete with a quilting, candle making, quill pen and bread making stations. A few parents are keen to help so that will ease some of the work. It should be a fun, memorable day.
My teaching partner's surgery didn't quite go as planned. They couldn't remove the cancer as hoped, so she will have to undergo chemo and radiation. Fortunately, it is localized to the one area, so there is no worry of it having spread anywhere. I went in to VGH to see her Sunday night. I don't like hospitals so it took all of my courage to go. I always feel faint when I first enter the hospital and Sunday was no different. Uggh..the smell and sounds just get to me. Anyhow, once I got into her room and sat down I was OK. Once we started visiting I was fine. She couldn't talk yet, so she wrote everything down. We had a few good laughs and a few tears. I called tonight and she's home now. She is able to speak and we had a short conversation before her voice gave out. She is always so positive and strong.
So, it's time for me to get to bed. Last weekend I made the mistake of staying up late a couple nights in a row and I was so exhausted all week. This weekend is the big highland dance year end show. It should be fun. The girls also have two competitions in June, so that will be added craziness! I can't believe how well they are doing with their highland dance. I'm amazed at their progress. I know I couldn't do all those steps and remember all the timing.
I figured I'd better update my blog or little Gracie would be going to kindergarten and that picture would still be the latest post!
