Ready for some spring and some sun....and some Olympic fun!

Well, hasn't this just been the craziest winter? Don't get me wrong, I loved the snow. It's now the dirty, crusty, muddy leftovers that are getting me down. Snow is supposed to melt here but it's not happening very fast.

This week we've seen some hope in the form of sunshine. I can almost feel the spring in the air, but I'm afraid to even think that way yet. After all, it's only February and I remember some crazy February snowfalls. Like the time I was up at SFU and almost got snowed in. It did end up taking me 4 hours to get home through the blizzard and traffic chaos. That was Valentine's Day, I remember.

We are going to enjoy some night skiing soon as a family. For her birthday, Maddie got some money so that we could all go up skiing. That will be something to look forward to. It will be nice to see some white, clean snow! LOL!

On the weekend, we had Maddie's kid party for her 10th birthday. We had Petland come. It was a lot of fun to see and hold all kinds of animals. Her friends seemed to really enjoy it too.

The girls have an amazing opportunity coming up. Their music teacher at school invited a select group of students to be part of a children's choir singing O Canada for the CTV special, "Countdown to 2010" I managed to switch days so I can go with them. It will be at the new speed skating oval on Feb. 12th. It will be a long day
(6 hour rehearsal) and then it will be filmed live at 5:00. They are excited about their "tv debut" :) I have no idea how big the choir will be and no idea about the special. Even the music teacher doesn't know much except for the version of O Canada they will be singing. It's all top secret, so it will be a surprise for viewers. It will be really interesting to see how it all comes together. I have a huge letter full of all the details I need to look after (hair, clothing, etc....)

So, despite the cold, icky, muddy, icy mess outside, there are some bright spots in the next few weeks.
