My kids keep life fun for me. I tend to be a serious person. I think God knows I need to lighten up sometimes...I often tell my kids not to be silly. Sort of a weird thing to say. This is really the only time in their life they can be silly and get away with it. On some level, it bothers me and I'm trying to get past that. I just read a book by Marilyn Meberg called, "Choosing the Amusing" It was great. I can't wait to hear her speak at Women of Faith again. She keeps life fun and has amazing stories to tell.
Today as a reward for a reading milestone Maddie reached we went out for breakfast at Denny's, just her and I. The man next to us orders and says, "I'd like a big bowl of cut up fruit". Madeleine heard it as, "I'd like a big bowl of cat food". Well, we both found that particularly funny and laughed until our sides hurt. It was a neat moment.
Chelsea cracked me up today too. She was dressed as Cinderella for preschool. She looked in our full length mirror and declared, "The hair, the dress, the shoes ....I look good!" Actually, I put a little blush and eyeshadow on her. It kind of startled me to see how beautiful she looked. That's it...no makeup till she's 20!!! LOL She was worried about the "eyeshadow" and said, "but Mom, can I still see with the eye shadow on?"
