One of the many ways my husband has added to my life is music appreciation. Before we were married, my tastes were pretty limited to whatever was popular. Today he was pleasantly surprised to see my put on Sergio Mendes while I did housework. "Hey, I'm finally influencing you," he said proudly. Starbucks had a Cd with Sergio Mendes on it - remixes of all the old songs like Mas Que Nada with Black Eyed Peas, Stevie Wonder and even Justin Timberlake. I bought it for him and we've quite enjoyed the mix of old and new. It's even got some "rap" on it, which neither of us care for, but mixed in with the Brazilian rhythms, it's actually kind of neat.
Our kids have had no choice but to be exposed to all kinds of music. They've gone through stages in their tastes. Maddie's new obsession with Broadway musicals is cracking me up right now. She can't get enough of my "Crazy for You" CD. She goes around the house singing, "I've got rhythm, I've got music, "I've got my guy...who could ask for anything more" The other day Mike sat through almost the entire Musical ( I think the CD has 22 songs) while Maddie and Chelsea sang and acted it out! I can't wait until there's an appropriate one in town I can take them to. They loved Beauty and the Beast. I think it would be fun to take them to Cats or something.
I'm sure that once they are teens, their music tastes will change but for now I'm enjoying the diversity of tunes around here!
