Sleepwalking

My oldest is a sleepwalker. She has been "active" in her sleep from her toddler days and many a time I've found her roaming the house like a zombie. Last night, just as I was entering a deep sleep, I was awakened by a loud scream from downstairs. Let me tell you that being jolted awake by your child's scream is pretty freaky. My heart was pounding as I ran out to the hallway, still half asleep and not even able to process what was going on. We almost bumped into each other as she ran up the stairs and I headed down. "Bella scared me, " she sobbed as she ran into my arms. Bella, our big black standard poodle was right behind her, looking at me with big confused eyes. "What were you doing downstairs?" I asked. "I don't know", she said. The dog had obviously heard her walking downstairs and went down to investigate. Maddie had bumped into her and that must have "woken" her up. "I was in the laundry room and I didn't know what Bella was", she explained. I tucked her back in and went back to a less than deep sleep for the remainder of the night.
