Summer Fun

I really adore summer. It's been hot lately, but even the heat can't take away from my love of summer. Maybe I love these months so much because I'm off and schedules are not as harried. Maybe I love the wonderful weather and respite from rain. Maybe I love all the outdoor activities we can do and all that great light until late at night. Whatever it is, July and August are heaven for me. We got married in July. Mike's birthday is in July and mine is in August so I love the summer for those reasons too.

Some of my favourite activities this summer have been:
-spending time on Thetis Island and seeing the sun set over Chapel Glen
-camping in beautiful Golden Ears Park with our good friends, having a campfire and watching the kids play in the forest
-going to White Rock Beach - one of my favourite spots in the world, I think - watching the kids play with their cousin in the waves and sand while Jeanie and I relaxed on the beach.
-watching Maddie progress in her outdoor swimming lessons and seeing her pride as she masters the strokes.
-having supper picnics as a family in various locations
-feeling a sense of satisfaction as I work out with my boot camp buddies in the coolness of Lafarge Lake at 6 am
-watching my garden grow

On the weekend we are taking a road trip to Red Deer to see my sister and her family. We will also head to Drumheller and West Ed Mall. It should be loads of fun. I can't wait to get going. Then we have one more camping trip to Porpoise Bay. I need one more ocean fix before September.

The girls have their friends over today and I promised them we would head to the spray park and little pool up the road. We'd better get going.
