Carolina Parakeet and Jamaican Sea

These are the bold new colours in Maddie's room. We had bought the bedding (courtesy of Grandma and Grandpa) for Maddie's birthday in January and finally got to painting her room this last week. This is her new desk (courtesy of Nana) she received for her birthday. Everything has finally come together. We have a few more little touches to add. Today we found a tailored lime green bedskirt so imagine that in the picture too!

Maddie loves the process. She always wants to watch the home decorating shows on TV and remembered all the paint names from when we last looked in February or March. As we walked into Home Depot she went straight for the paint chips and said, Here it is, "Green Crush"....this is the one I like." We talked her out of it as it was a bit toooooo green! I'm glad she likes what we've done. We've had to talk her down from a few of her wild ideas like transforming one wall of her room into a climbing wall...."yes, mom, you can buy those climbing wall grips....I saw them at Coast Mountain Sports...." We convinced her it may actually bring down the drywall!! Then there was the Hawaiian hut idea...."Mom, I'll draw it out....I want a grass hut in the corner of my room....." I think the Ikea leaf satisfied that creative urge. Maybe she'll have a career in interior design....Regardless, I can't wait to see what she does with her home one day!
