How the World is Changing...

This week I'm struck with how technology is really changing the way we connect as humans. Because I'm a blog reader and occasional writer, I spend a little time (Ok, sometimes way too much time) online reading and sharing in people's lives. Some of these people, actually most of these people, I don't even know. Reading other mom's blogs is so fascinating to me. I love to get ideas, laugh, share in people's misery and just know that we're on this crazy journey called parenting together.

Through the network of blogs, I read about two families who lost their babies. One was 17 month old Maddie, another was little Thalon. It was heart-breaking to read about these losses. I didn't know these families at all, but I shared just a little in their sorrow, prayed for them and will follow their journey now.

Susan Boyle, an unknown British woman, became an overnight sensation through the you tube video that was broadcast last week portraying her beautiful voice on the show "Britain's Got Talent" It's amazing how quickly information can be sent. I even heard the words "Susan Boyle effect" when it comes to ticket sales for "Les Miserables"

Oprah is on twitter. I don't understand twitter fully yet. I signed up out of curiosity more than anything. Ashton Kucher (sp?) demonstrated the power of social media by posting a YouTube video challenging people to follow him on Twitter. His goal was to get a million followers, surpassing CNN's following. He accomplished this is no time. Amazing.

The way we (and especially our kids) network, get information and broadcast information is a whole new world. Hang on, it's going to be quite a ride!
